250 Years. One Industry. One Vision. A new chapter focused on ownership, intelligence, industry connection, and the future of independent retail.
Washington, D.C. | July 4, 2026 —
As the United States celebrates its historic 250th Anniversary of Independence, The Retail Chamber announced the launch of four strategic initiatives designed to strengthen independent grocery retail, support entrepreneurship, expand industry intelligence, and create new opportunities across the retail ecosystem.
Under the message “250 Years. One Industry. One Vision.”, the organization introduced a new strategic roadmap focused on the future of grocery ownership, data-driven decision-making, national industry collaboration, and expanded visibility for independent retailers.
The announcement reflects The Retail Chamber’s commitment to supporting the businesses and entrepreneurs that continue to play an essential role in America’s economy.
“America was built by entrepreneurs, family businesses, and individuals willing to invest in their communities. As our Nation celebrates 250 years, we believe this is the right moment to look ahead and help build the next generation of independent retail leaders,” said The Retail Chamber.
Four Strategic Initiatives for the Future of Independent Retail
1. Retail Ownership Initiative (ROI)
Building America’s Next Generation of Grocery Owners.
The first initiative announced is the Retail Ownership Initiative (ROI), a national platform created to identify grocery ownership opportunities, support business transitions, develop future operators, and strengthen the next generation of independent supermarket owners.
Through ROI, The Retail Chamber will connect entrepreneurs, experienced retail professionals, existing operators, wholesalers, manufacturers, financial partners, and industry experts within one collaborative ecosystem.
The initiative focuses on a critical industry priority: supporting ownership succession and ensuring independent grocery businesses continue serving communities for generations to come.
2. HRID – Hispanic Retail Intelligence Database
Transforming Retail Data Into Strategic Opportunities.
The second initiative is HRID – Hispanic Retail Intelligence Database, The Retail Chamber’s national retail intelligence platform.
HRID has been created to develop verified industry data, market insights, and business intelligence focused on independent and multicultural retail across the United States.
The platform will help manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, distributors, and strategic partners better understand market opportunities, identify potential partnerships, and make more informed business decisions.
In an increasingly competitive environment, access to accurate information will become one of the most valuable resources for future growth.
3. Grand Retail Show 2026
The Countdown Begins
October 13–15, 2026
The Retail Chamber also officially announced the countdown to Grand Retail Show 2026, its national industry event bringing together retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, service providers, technology companies, and business leaders.
The upcoming edition will represent a new stage for the event, expanding its mission as a platform for networking, education, innovation, and business development.
Grand Retail Show 2026 will continue connecting the organizations and people shaping the future of the grocery and retail industry.
4. Strategic Alliance with TelevisaUnivision
Connecting Retail, Media & Communities
The fourth initiative announced is a new strategic alliance with TelevisaUnivision, designed to expand the visibility of independent retailers and strengthen the connection between the retail industry, brands, and multicultural consumers.
Through this collaboration, The Retail Chamber will develop new opportunities to share industry stories, highlight entrepreneurs, promote innovation, and amplify the impact of independent retail across the country.
A New Chapter for The Retail Chamber
Together, these four initiatives represent a unified vision built around four strategic pillars:
Ownership. Intelligence. Connection. Visibility.
- ROI represents the future of grocery ownership.
- HRID represents the future of retail intelligence.
- Grand Retail Show represents the future of industry collaboration.
- TelevisaUnivision represents the future of communication and visibility.
As the United States celebrates 250 years of history, The Retail Chamber begins its next chapter focused on helping create the next generation of entrepreneurs, strengthening independent businesses, and supporting the continued evolution of the retail industry.
The future of independent retail is not something we wait for.
It is something we build together.
