CVS Health has announced the appointment of Len Shankman as President of Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness and Lucille Accetta as Chief Pharmacy Officer, effective immediately.
Len Shankman
Shankman, who has been with CVS Health since 2002, previously served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness. During his tenure, he has held various leadership roles, including overseeing the company’s Specialty Pharmacy business and serving as General Manager of Coram, CVS’s specialty infusion division. Before joining CVS Health, Shankman served in the United States Navy.
In his new role, Shankman will lead the front-store and retail pharmacy operations across CVS’s more than 9,000 pharmacy locations nationwide.
Lucille Accetta
Accetta, in her role as Chief Pharmacy Officer, will champion the role of pharmacists in healthcare while driving strategic initiatives to integrate pharmacy services across the CVS Health enterprise. She will continue to oversee the Specialty Pharmacy, Coram, and Omnicare businesses as Senior Vice President of Specialty Pharmacy Operations.
Since joining CVS Health in 2017, Accetta has advanced through increasingly senior roles within the Specialty Pharmacy business. Before joining CVS, she held leadership positions at Teva Pharmaceuticals, Rx Ally, Express Scripts, and Medco, gaining extensive expertise in patient services, pharmacy product development, and clinical operations.
These appointments underscore CVS Health’s commitment to enhancing its pharmacy and consumer wellness capabilities while driving innovation in healthcare delivery.
During its most recent earnings call, CVS Health highlighted strong performance trends in its Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness business. The company reported a retail pharmacy prescription share of 27.3%, reflecting its competitive position in the market. Additionally, CVS emphasized progress in transitioning to its CVS CostVantage model, a strategy designed to enhance cost efficiency and value for customers. Notably, agreements under this model now encompass more than half of the company’s total commercial prescriptions, signaling significant momentum in its adoption and implementation.
These developments demonstrate CVS Health’s focus on leveraging innovative models and maintaining leadership in the retail pharmacy sector.
