Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodriguez said that she will soon begin a promotional campaign with the Olmeca-Maya-Mexica Airport, Railway, Auxiliary and Related Services Group (GAFSACOMM) under the Mexico brand and that part of the work can be seen at the WTM fair, which will be held next month in London, England.
The goal is to promote the Mexicana de Aviación airline nationally and international, El Tren Maya and the hotels, airports, parks and museums of the group administered by the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) to encourage tourism.
Following the meeting that the official had last week with the director of GAFSACOMM, General José Gerardo Vega Rivera, the signing of an agreement between the parties is scheduled for the following days.
“There will be very specific training activities, promotion, participation in national and international fairs, presentation of destinations… The important thing is that it will not remain a macro agreement. We have already started the work. You will see,” said the official after the presentation of the Festival Internacional del Globo, which will take place in León, Guanajuato, from November 15 to 18.
After asking the Secretary of Tourism if they are going to join the television campaigns that are currently on the air to promote Mexicana de Aviación routes, which had not happened before, she responded that yes, it will be a joint effort in which the MÉXICO brand will be “on top,” which is unprecedented.
In order to be able to specify this joint work, the agency already has a connection with the military group granting the license for non-exclusive and free use of the MÉXICO brand.
Regarding the participation of the agency in the organization of the tourism fair in Madrid, Spain, Fitur, he specified that the direct marketing deal is between the company Euroamérica and the Union of Secretaries of Tourism of Mexico (Asetur), so they only collaborate as an authority so that “the Mexican pavilion” is very nice, which will be the largest in the world dedicated to the Americas.

At the same time as the festival was announced, it was announced on Monday that, to promote the artisanal and cultural beauty of Guanajuato, its products will be exhibited in December at the Punto México space, on the lower part of the Ministry of Tourism, in Polanco, Mexico City.
Due to the importance of balloon activities for the state, the Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise García Muñoz, the Secretary of Tourism of Guanajuato, María Guadalupe Robles León, and also the Mayor of León, Alejandra Gutiérrez Campos, participated in the ceremony.
In her turn, the head of federal Tourism recognized the importance of promoting the arrival of tourists and increasing the entry of foreign currency from tourism by holding events of this type that allow the world to show the cultural, natural, gastronomic and tourist wealth of Mexico and, with that, benefit the local population as instructed by the president, Claudia Sheinbaum.
More than 400,000 visitors and more than 800 million pesos in revenue are expected for the next edition of the festival.
The popular International Balloon Festival of León
On December 1, 2002, the León International Balloon Festival (El Festival Internacional del Globo de León) was born, bringing together 25 hot air balloons. Here the magic began and the dream of painting the León sky with colors came true.
Due to the success of the first edition, in 2004 the festival increased the number of balloons to 40, as well as the participation of pilots from Mexico and other countries.
“The sky will never be the same” was the motto of its second edition in 2006, a year in which the effort to collect 80 balloons was doubled, in addition to the first massive concert with guest artist Bobby Pulido.
