Mexico has established itself as one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the world, standing out for its all-inclusive vacation offering, especially in key areas such as the Riviera Maya and the Mexican Pacific. Due to its world-class infrastructure and the high demand of national and international tourists, key destinations in Mexico such as Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Huatulco and Ixtapa have experienced a visible growth in their occupancy rates at luxury resorts, Hyatt said.

In this way, the company indicated that it is continuing its strategy of expanding Hyatt Inclusive Collection (HIC) in Mexico as a key pillar within its portfolio in the region. HIC currently operates 34 resorts in the Riviera Maya alone and a collection of 10 brands that address a wide range of audiences of different lifestyles and ages.

In addition to having important differentiators such as unique design – no two Hyatt Inclusive Collection resorts are the same – HIC has 28 Resorts in Mexico with the “Preferred by Nature” certification in 2024, 5 Resorts with 5 AAA Diamonds and 41 Resorts with 4 AAA Diamonds, a distinction awarded by the American Automobile Association (AAA), an American federation that provides 3 to 5 diamonds to hotels and restaurants in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean for meeting 34 minimum requirements for condition, cleanliness, management and style of operation; exterior and public areas, as well as guest rooms and bathrooms.

With a strategy that integrates the entire customer journey, from distribution, services and transportation at destination to accommodation, HIC seeks not only to strengthen its presence in the country, but also to contribute to the sustainable growth of the Latam region. The luxury brand plans additional openings in strategic destinations in the country through 2027, as well as the expansion of its current properties to include more luxury services and amenities.

    Increase in tourism in 2024

According to the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR), in the period January-November 2024, the arrival of 77.4 million international visitors was recorded, 15.6% more than in 2023. Likewise, the income from international visitors also registered an increase compared to 2023 and 2019, registering 29,253.8 million dollars, 7.2 percent and 32.4 percent more, respectively. At the same time, the Cancun International Airport is the main gateway to the Riviera Maya, operating more than 500 daily flights to various destinations from the United States and Europe, highlighting the global interest in this destination.

“Recently, the Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, commented that this year the arrival of 45 million international tourists is expected, which would leave a spill of 22 thousand 478 million dollars. Given a complicated relationship with the United States, with possible negative effects on the T-MEC, the figures reflect that tourism can become an important activity in the face of a negative economic impact, since currently this activity represents 8.4% of the economy and 4 million 900 thousand jobs, which could be double if they reach their potential in the country,” said. Antonio Fungairino Head of Latin America & the Caribbean (LAC) for HIC.

Hyatt Inclusive Collection reaffirms its commitment to offering world-class experiences and contributing to Mexico’s position as a leader in the region’s tourism sector. The focus on sustainable development and innovation continues to be the company’s main driving force, strengthening not only its portfolio, but also the economic and social growth of local communities.

“Mexico is and will continue to be one of the most appreciated and important destinations for HIC. The commitment to being present in the destination is to generate growth for the country and with values of respect for people and the environment. Its location and excellent tourist infrastructure facilitate access from key markets such as North America and Europe. Therefore, the Mexican market presents great opportunities to expand our offer and consolidate our presence in the region,” concluded Fungairino.
