High-Level Retail Education: The Key to Growth and Competitiveness in the Sector

In an increasingly dynamic and competitive world, the retail sector faces constant challenges that require well-trained professionals with specialized expertise. Access to high-level retail education is not just an advantage—it is a strategic necessity to ensure growth, innovation, and the sustainability of businesses in the retail industry.

According to recent data confirmed by The Hispanic Retail Chamber of Commerce, retail accounts for approximately 20% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in countries like the United States, employing more than 15 million people. However, a Deloitte report indicates that 65% of retail companies report difficulties filling key positions due to a lack of specific skills and up-to-date training in areas such as category management, data analytics, customer experience, and retail technology.

The rapid evolution of the market—driven by digitalization, e-commerce, and shifting consumer habits—forces retail professionals to remain in a constant state of learning. Studies by McKinsey indicate that employees engaged in continuous education are 30% more likely to contribute to innovation within their organizations and to improve customer satisfaction.

In this context, initiatives like The Retail Academy, a specialized retail education platform, have emerged to offer executive and professional training programs covering everything from business strategies, leadership, and team development to applied marketing and retail technology. Access to these programs allows professionals not only to enhance their skills but also to prepare their companies to compete effectively in a globalized market.

“The future of retail lies in continuous education and the ability to adapt to new trends and technologies. Having well-rounded, highly trained professionals is essential to face challenges and seize opportunities,” said Daniel Esteban Novoa, Executive Vice President of The Retail Chamber of Commerce.

With the goal of democratizing access to quality retail education, more and more organizations are promoting accessible programs with flexible formats and content tailored to the reality of the Hispanic and multicultural retail sector in markets such as the United States and Latin America—an area where the HRCOC has been working actively, noted Julio Ibañez, President of HRCOC.
