A little over a month after announcing the opening of a new supermarket in Seminole, Florida, Cencosud announced the opening of two new The Fresh Market stores, this time in the towns of Crofton (Maryland) and Chicago (Illinois), expanding and strengthening the presence of the Chilean retailer in the North American country.
In Illinois, this is The Fresh Market’s fifth location in that state, and the Crofton location is the fifth store in Maryland, where customers will have access to specialty products, bakery items, premium meats, seafood, and high-quality fruits and vegetables.
The Fresh Market as a supermarket
Cencosud said: “The Fresh Market is a specialty supermarket highly valued by Americans, which has positioned itself thanks to its offer of fresh products and high-quality prepared food. These new openings are part of an expansion plan with which we hope to exceed 170 stores in the coming months, in a market where there is a lot of room to grow in this format.”
The Fresh Market CEO Jason Potter said, “We are excited to be part of the Lincoln Park community in Chicago, Illinois, bringing an innovative offering that offers all the quality of The Fresh Market, plus a coffee shop and in-store produce, as well as a meeting place for friends and families.” He also added, “The opening of this new location represents a significant milestone in our growth strategy. Our goal is to provide a variety of products to our customers, including a variety of specialty stores …at communities with the highest quality products and a distinctive, convenient and enjoyable shopping experience. We seek to be part of the Crofton community and offer our customers a place where they feel welcome”.
The stores will be open all week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and customers can also shop on The Fresh Market website or app, with access to special offers. The Chicago store has a section for buying coffee, which will be open from 6 a.m.
It is important to remember that just a few months ago, The Fresh Market was recognized in the USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards 2024 for best bakery, best deli, and best prepared food.
To celebrate the opening of both locations, there was a traditional bread-cutting ceremony, vendor tastings and live music, as well as a donation to the Maryland Food Bank and the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
